Bec & Bridge - 'Isosceles' Autumn/Winter 2014

5 February 2014

One of my all time favourite Australian designers is Bec & Bridge and their new Autumn/Winter collection 'Isosceles' is to die for! Season after season the girls at Bec & Bridge manage to produce flawless and beautifully made pieces that would fit seamlessly into any woman's wardrobe. I love the way each collection brings to life basics such as stripes and chambray combined with elegant statement pieces to create a versatility that every girl dreams of. These are my favourites from the collection...

'Isosceles' Autumn/Winter 2014...

Inspired by the mystic and mythic ancient Egyptian culture, 'Isosceles' carries a distinctly timeless quality, full of statuesque silhouettes and linear prints evocative of a truly magical point in time when structure and line was explored and revered.

The graphic prints and angular cuts used throughout the collection pay homage to the idea of geometry as a celebration of the feats of design throughout history. The two equal sides of the Isosceles triangle are drawn here as the two lines of femininity and strength. The angular and asymmetrical details throughout the collection create a negative space, which in turn creates strong, linear shapes on the body.

In looking to the ancient Egyptians, we also see an exploration of the elements. The burnt oranges of the desert, and the deep blues of the river are then balanced by geometrical prints that introduce the third element of air, creating a triangular balance of colour, line and space. Ancient, exotic tropes come into play through python and cheetah prints, and embossed scuba and leather. Serpentine body-con shapes and fluid, longer line pieces also play on the theme of the inherent sensuality of nature.

This season's girl is deeply confident and darkly royal. She embodies a timelessness that echoes the strength and mastery of the ages.
