Samantha Wills: La Boheme Chasseresse

27 February 2014

Samantha Wills' latest jewellery collection is yet another series of perfectly crafted bohemian inspired pieces. Samantha Wills is my favourite jewellery label and I love that each piece can be worn either on its own or layered with may others from the current or past collections. Here are my favourite lust-worthy pieces at the moment:

Miss Monochrome

I thought I'd take a break from the cold winter here in Germany to express my love for the current monochrome trend. Colour has taken a bit of a backseat lately and black and white can be seen dominating the runways and streets. The best thing about monochrome is its versatility. There are so many ways to wear it including stripes, spots or in block colours.

I took these photos before I left and boy am I missing summer back home. This is a super simple way to wear monochrome and the combination of black and white is as timeless as it is flattering. I love wearing black, so the black mini skirt and heels were a must. The white trim on this crop top then gave this outfit the perfect contrast and mono effect it needed.

Only two more days until I fly home. As much as I'm loving being away, I'm also quite excited to be home. I'm mostly excited to see my boyfriend, sleep in my own bed and hopefully devour a whole bowl of vegetables (after being deprived for two weeks). Until then I've got a couple more days to soak up the experience and enjoy the rest of my time overseas!

Madrid Photo Diary

I've been in Madrid for the past week for a diving competition. This is my second time to Madrid and I'm glad I got the chance to explore a little more than the first time. I spent most of my time at the hotel and at the diving pool but we got to out a couple of days to see some of the city.

We went to Plaza Puerta del Sol the first day for a little bit of shopping. It's the heart of Madrid and the square was bustling with people, despite being such a freezing and wet day. Many streets branch out from the main square in which there are countless shops including major stores such as Zara, Mango and H&M, small boutiques and food stores selling all sorts of things from strange cuts of meat to gelato.

The roads radiating from the centre square also lead to other major sites such as the Plaza Mayor. I really wanted to go and see it as well as the Royal Palace but unfortunately I didn't make it to either of these popular tourist sites. However, I went to a beautiful park called Parque del Retiro from which many of the above photos were taken.

The park is one of the most popular in Madrid and one of the biggest I've ever seen. The day I went it was filled with people either exercising, taking a stroll, or looking particularly touristy (like me). Everything inside was so incredibly beautiful. In addition to the many monuments and water fountains throughout the park, there was also a big lake with a monument overlooking it in which many people had hired rowboats and were gently rowing around in. It couldn't have been more picturesque.

Before leaving the park we sat down at a cute little cafe near the lake and had (obligatory) Spanish hot chocolates with churros. Chocolate con Churros is something I've always wanted to try and I happily indulged myself whilst taking in the most amazing view inside the Parque del Retiro.

I'm going to miss Madrid but hopefully I'll be back again and soon and can see some of the major sites. I had an amazing trip though and now I'm looking forward to the next leg...Germany. Adiós Madrid, Guten Tag Deutschland!

Denim Days

7 February 2014

All About Eve denim shirt | White denim shorts (similar here) | Zu sandals | Samantha Wills bracelet | Forever New bag (similar here)

I love denim. It's perfect all year round in the form of shorts, skirts, shirts and jeans. I've never really experimented with the whole denim on denim thing though and this outfit is probably the closest to double denim that I'll ever get. I really like this denim duo because the shorts are white, creating a much needed contrast between the two denim colours because I'm not adventurous enough to wear two blue denim items together. This is a classic relaxed summer outfit and an example of comfort at it's best!

Apologies for the frown on my face in some of these photos. I left my sunglasses at home...I won't be forgetting them again anytime soon!
